Haley Joel Osment apologizes for ‘disgraceful language’ he used during arrest

Haley Joel Osment has expressed deep remorse following a recent incident that led to his arrest.

The former child star was taken into custody last week at a ski resort in Mammoth Lakes, California, on charges of public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance.

Bodycam footage, shared by multiple media outlets, shows the Sixth Sense actor directing a slur and calling a police officer a “Nazi” during the encounter.

In a statement to People magazine, Osment said, “I’m horrified by what I said. If I had realized I used such offensive language while blackout drunk, I would’ve spoken out earlier. These past few months have been emotionally devastating due to personal loss and upheaval.”

He went on to say, “That still doesn’t justify the hateful word I used. I sincerely apologize to anyone hurt by my words. What I said was meaningless and offensive—I’ve let down the Jewish community, and that truly breaks my heart. I’m not asking for forgiveness, only a chance to make amends.”

Osment, who has more recently appeared in series like Poker Face and the upcoming film Blink Twice, has continued working in the industry despite personal challenges.

Back in January, his sister, actress Emily Osment, shared on Instagram that their family lost their home in the Eaton wildfire, which devastated the Altadena area near Los Angeles.

The 37-year-old actor now faces misdemeanor charges for disorderly conduct and cocaine possession, according to the Mono County District Attorney’s Office. His arraignment is scheduled for July 7.
