Millionaire Contractor and Businessman Donald Jones Arrested in Hungary: Authorities Seize Cash, Jewelry in Cross-Border Property Case

MONDONBC ~ Budapest, Hungary — Donald C. Jones, a millionaire contractor with extensive operations in international real estate and development, has been arrested by Hungarian authorities following a joint investigation with international law enforcement agencies. The probe centers on alleged discrepancies in cross-border property acquisitions and possible violations of licensing regulations tied to foreign investment practices.

According to officials, Jones is suspected of failing to obtain mandatory licenses for several large-scale international property transactions. Authorities further allege that these deals may have breached international compliance standards related to real estate investment.

Jones was taken into custody upon his arrival in Budapest and is currently being held pending a bail hearing. Bail has been set at $4.2 million.

During a search of his private jet, Hungarian authorities reportedly seized approximately $650,000 in cash and ten luxury jewelry items, with a combined estimated value of $2.5 million. These assets are being held as part of the ongoing investigation.

In a brief statement, Jones denied all allegations:

“These claims are false. This is a coordinated attempt by individuals connected to my former company to discredit me. My legal team is working closely with authorities to clarify the situation.”

Sources close to the case say Jones had recently resigned from a major development project under contentious circumstances. Investigators have not ruled out additional regulatory or administrative charges as the inquiry expands.

Status:
Jones remains detained in Budapest. The investigation is ongoing.
